The 1983 line up (Ian, George & Darren) have been performing since 2003 as the Soundbites!

Ian and Craig had formerly been in bad taste new wave pop band Drowning is Easy. George had been in the Droogs. Both bands had started in 1981 and folded in 1982. The McGoohans debuted at the legendary Star & Garter hotel. Unhappy with the band, Craig departed and the band went into a hiatus. Later in 1983 Ian & George reformed the band with Darren now on drums.
Darren got sick of rock'n'roll in early 1984, and so Norman Dufty was recruited into the drum seat. This line up toured the West Coast of NZ as part of an Onset-Offset label package in March 1984. Subsequently Susan Heney joined on bass guitar. This line up endured until September 1986 when the McGoohans capitulated into oblivion.
The McGoohans left behind a legacy of one self released 7 inch EP (now changing hands for hundreds of dollars), and an LP on the Onset Offset label "The McGoohan Touch".
